Ardeath gave birth to this strange death metal project in 2004. From the begining the basic idea of The Body Snatcher has been to create brutal but atmospheric death metal only with bass quitars.

The first demo, Wolf Moon, came out in 2005. It was a raw creation with heavily distorted bass quitars, guttural vocals and horrormovie sound clips. As contrast to the brutal side, there was also some clean basslines which brought horrorlike atmosphere to the songs.

The second recording, Ghostfire, came out in spring 2006. This demo was a huge leap to the band. It introduced a new element, keyboards, to the music. The sound became much bigger and much more atmospheric.

The third demo entitled "Ghost of the Black Dawn" introduced new female vocalist miss Hovila (Kivimetsän Druidi). The demo was released in spring 2007 and it was yeat another big leap to the band. Due to classical female vocals The Body Snatcher gained more depth than ever before. The overall soud of the demo was depressing and heavy. Just like it's supposed to be!

The next release "Graveyard Symphonies" will be self released EP and it has four new tracks. It will be released in early 2009. The EP will have quest session musicians in cello and violin. The EP will introduce a whole lot a new sides of The Body Snatcher for example pianos, clean male vocals and slow, almost doom like, songs. EP will also introduce our new drummer Golem. Graveyard Symphonies will be the most ambitious recording from The Body Snatcher so far - a true battle between horror and beauty!
