About Me
I'm pretty new here, and this is my second try at a profile, much expanded from before. This time, I'd like to try using several labels to describe myself. Part of me doesn't like labels, because so many people abuse them, for instance by generalizing, or 'pigeonholing', but like any tool I think properly used they can be useful. For instance here I will use them as a starting point which I will then clarify/qualify. Many of the terms I use here I got from the book "Goth Craft" by Raven Digitalis, which has a pretty good treatment of its subject material, imo.
So here we go:
Goth (of course): For all my love of things dark and spooky. There's probably a lot I could write about this, and maybe I will, but we have other stuff to get through so...
Wiccan: Eclectic, with a healthy dose of humanism and even Yoism. Plus its fun to overlap with goth stuff.
Geek: Because of my many interests of 'geeky' things, like science, sci-fi, computers, anime, video games, RPGs (table-top, not computer). More details in the Likes section.
Goth types I fall into:
CasualGoth: Most of the time I'm usually just dressed down, but still in black, with some jewelry and occasional nail polish.
Graver: Nothing more than a goth who likes raves, that style of music, and dancing. I don't do the raver style, but some of it does look good. Besides, I just like the name. Makes me think of holding a rave of goths in a cemetery.
CyberGoth/TechnoGoth: Ok, not what you're probably thinking! The style of fashion that normally gets called 'cybergoth' is not for me, and hence why I distinguish myself as technogoth. But for me personally I like to think of the term 'cybergoth' as being akin to cyberpunk, but with a more goth than punk attitude (but still related like how goth and punk are). I love cyberpunk as a genre, partly for fun, and partly because I think that it's a fairly accurate reflection of where we are headed as a society. I just choose to react to it in a more goth fashion, so to speak, than punk. But that's not the common use of the term so what can I do? So this is more about philosophical leanings than anything, but it does spill over into style when I can find something that works. Again, not what others call cyber, but still something with a science/sci-fi/technology theme to it. I hope that made sense.
Fetish goth: Why deny it? My style often incorporates fun stuff like bondage and pvc.
Sophistigoth: Not as pompous as it may sound, this is just for my love of philosophy, and being an artist. I have interests in many topics, and forms of art. My favorite arts are writing and acting, and are probably the ones I'm best at. I write fiction, and am trying to become a novelist actually; non-fiction, such as essays, articles, and instructional; and poetry, although that mostly seems to only happen after something awful occurs in my life.
After those my favorites are singing and drawing, for which I need more practice and/or instruction. I also enjoy dancing (both club and formal styles; I've done medieval and Polish folk dancing), photography, and fashion design (another reason I need to learn how to draw better). I like making movies when I'm able to. I also found that I have a knack for interior decorating, but I'm not interested in it much (except for my own place of course, but then I'm too poor to do what I want). I also wouldn't mind trying my hand at esthetics, in particular make-up (both goth and otherwise, male and female), but I also like playing with a girl's hair. :)
On a different note, I also have a deep concern about society, the world, and where we are headed. I give a lot of thought, learning and discussion to what we can do about it, because like I said above about cyberpunk, that's pretty close to where I think we're headed if we don't wake up and change it, and as much fun as cyberpunk may make as entertainment, I really don't want to live in that kind of world. Especially when it's only going to get worse from there. We actually have the ability to create a pretty awesome society, better than any one before it, but this opportunity won't last forever, and it won't be obvious when it passes us by.
Damn, I hope that didn't sound too preachy, but the fate and welfare of the world is an interest of mine, so I put it down here.
Why I'm here: To find people who share any of my strange interests. So if you see any here, feel free to message me about it.

I'm sick and tired of fighting each other
The lying, the crying, the calling your mother
The calling of names, I'm bothered and smothered
We kiss and make up, and get under the covers
